About VOICEntre
Our Facilities
The clinic is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated instrumentations that assist speech therapists to assess and treat individuals with voice problems.
Children Clinic Room
Children Clinic Room
Children visiting clinic can be stressful and inattentive, thus not having the optimal performance. This clinic room is specially decorated and equipped to suit children’s need, including children furniture and age-appropriate clinical toys.
Digital Video Stroboscopy
Digital Video Stroboscopy
Stroboscopic examination is the most practical technique for examining the vibratory pattern of the vocal folds. It can be used to observe and describe: fundamental frequency, symmetry of the bilateral movements of vocal folds, regularity of successive vibrations, glottal closure, amplitude of the horizontal excursion, size of the mucosal wave and non-vibrating portion of the vocal folds.
High-speed Imaging
High-speed Imaging
Similar to stroboscopy, High-speed imaging also allows visualization of vocal fold vibration. However, it can capture the movement of the vocal folds at a rate as high as 2000 frames per second. This provides clinicians with more details regarding the vocal fold injuries.
Aerophone II
Aerophone II
It is a voice function analyzer developed to bring advanced airflow and air pressure measurement technology to clinical use with applications in speech-language pathology, linguistics, and otolaryngology. It involves a sophisticated hardware system, including transducers for airflow, air pressure, and sound pressure level recording, and computerized data processing with program software on PC.
Surface Electromyography
Surface Electromyography
It measures the tension of the vocal muscles. A set of electrodes would be placed onto the clients’ necks to measure vocal muscles tension at rest and during speech. It also provides visual stimulus to help clients evaluate their own vocal muscle activities.
Whole-body Vibration
Whole-body Vibration
A WBV machine transfers energy from a mechanical vibration platform to the human body. To use this machine, one stands upright on a vibrating platform which causes muscles to contract and relax dozens of times per second. The frequency of the vibration can be adjusted to target different muscle groups of the body. Repeated exposure to whole-body vibration has been shown to influence humans' skeletal, muscular, and endocrine systems. Whole-body vibration is considered a treatment option for dysphonia.
Computerized Speech Lab
Computerized Speech Lab
It is a hardware and software system. Operations include speech acquisition, a variety of acoustic analysis functions, graphical and numerical display of speech parameters, playback of speech signals, signal editing, and storing speech to disk memory. It is suitable for any acoustic signals characterized by changing spectra over time.
Swell's Phog & Dr. Speech Phonetogram
Swell's Phog & Dr. Speech Phonetogram
It includes different software that can provide programs for a variety of speech analysis, vocal assessment, voice synthesis and therapy, voice range profile (phonetogram), and real-time video capture and analysis system. The software is designed specifically for otolaryngologists, voice pathologists, voice scientists and voice researchers.
Nasometer
Nasometer
It derives an acoustic index of perceived nasality. It is tied to an inappropriate coupling of the nasal cavity to the vocal tract that disrupts normal speech resonance. This device uses two directional microphones mounted on either side of a sound-separating plate to transduce oral and nasal sound pressure signals individually.
Laryngograph
Laryngograph
It measures vocal fold contact and the signal from it can derive a waveform representing the variations in conductance. Then the waveforms provide the basic for physical interpretation of pathological voice conditions. Some of the features that can be investigated include: vibration regularity, closure and opening definition, open/close phase ratio, closure/opening sequence shape.
High-Level Speech Synthesizer
High-Level Speech Synthesizer
It provides an integrated graphical environment for specifying, creating, analyzing and comparing synthetic speech files using high-level synthesis.
Steam Sterilizer
Steam Sterilizer
Equipment after use will be sterilized with this steam sterilizer for hygiene purpose. This ensures the cleanliness of the lab’s equipment for experimental use.
